MiddleClass

MiddleClass is a lightweight CSS framework I created primarily for rapidly deploying static websites from GitHub to Cloudflare Workers, especially when using AI tools like ChatGPT or Claude. It provides a clean, classless-first foundation along with a small set of practical CSS utility classes. In other words, you don't need to use classes unless you want to, and when you do, they're minimal and easy to understand.

Like my other FOSS projects, MiddleClass follows a philosophy I've promoted for years: make things as simple as possible, but not simpler. That means fast-loading pages, avoiding unnecessary bloat, and making customization easy while still being opinionated about sensible defaults. It's also a deliberate move in the opposite direction of increasingly complex frontend frameworks and tooling like Tailwind, Bootstrap, and React.

After years of building custom WordPress themes, and later developing HoverCraft with an emphasis on simplicity and easy maintenance, MiddleClass is my response to the growing popularity of static websites in the age of AI-assisted web design.
